About the Role

  • Participate in strategic direction and execution plan development for merchandise and category management and market positioning strategy, drive business strategy development that optimizes long-term success, focusing on maximizing sales and profits.

  • Set direction for selection of merchandise, pricing, sales promotion which are customer focused to achieve sales target and profit.

  • Review and respond to weekly trading results and competitor actions, ensuring price is competitive for our customers and profitable.

  • Develop plan for supplier relationship management including developing and fostering relationships with suppliers for long-term and mutual benefits, and achieve sustainable business continuity.

  • Forecast and manage my budgets effectively, always being cost conscious and Stock monitoring.

  • Work with Sales, Key Account Management, Logistic and Operations teams to deliver continuous improvements and great service levels.

  • Manage Fresh Food and Dry Food consignment sales to get the product in front of customers for new/existing products and new sales channels opportunity.

  • Coach and develop the team to deliver their performance and ensure a strong talent pipeline.

  • Develop and lead a high performing team, giving them the opportunities to be their best to achieve KPIs/OKRs and improve the category for customers.

  • Encourage the team to always update product knowledge, new items in market and trends so we always deliver a great shopping experience for customers to ensure my category is a great place to work and lead the viewpoint plan for the team


  • 7-10 years of related work experience in Merchandising, Category and Buyer roles  in Retail Business, FMCG and Food Industry would be preferable.

  • Strong process orientation and scalable solutions to complex problems.

  • Strong leadership skills and high resilience.

  • Negotiation, Supplier management, Stakeholder management, Data analysis and Leadership skill.

  • Category Management and Commercial Acumen as well as developing Category Strategy.

  • Experience in working cross functionally to deliver step change projects.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Operational excellence.
